MARAS AND MORAY TOUR

About 3029 masl approximately.
Moray : It is about 9 km southwest of Maras; It is the only archaeological group of its kind in the region. These are depressions or gigantic natural holes in the surface of the land that were used to build terraces or agricultural platforms in their contours, to experience different plants and then move to different agricultural areas.
SALINAS: There are more than 3000 small wells where salt water from the “Qaqawiñay” mountain is stored during the dry season (June to October). The wells are filled with water every three days, the sun evaporates the water and the salt remains. People in the community collect salt and store it for later sale. These mines were already exploited since the Inca era.
Maras is a town located 49 km northwest of the city of Cusco 13 km from Urubamba Visit and then to the salt mines.
