First day:

We leave Cusco early in the morning, visit the interesting pre-Inca tombs of Denmark, the colonial city of Paucartambo, and then to the cloud forest. Here, a thick blanket of clouds, and makes an ideal habitat for epiphytic plants such as bromeliads. This varied and fascinating world is home to the Gallito de las Rocas, the spectacled bear, orchids, arborescent ferns (one of the oldest living plants), mosses and lichens. At least 50% of the plant species found here are endemic to this region. Overnight on our outdoor platform "San Pedro".

Second day:

We observe the ritual mating dance of the Gallito de las Rocas (Rupicola peruviana), national bird of Peru, from the platform ("lek"). After breakfast we continue in our land transport * 1 by the narrow path between waterfalls and canyons towards Pilcopata city * 2. After 30 minutes by bus ride we will arrive at the Port of Atalaya, we will board our motorized deck boat and head down the Madre River de Dios Alto for approximately 30 minutes to our private reserve "Erika" where we will spend the next two nights. Short walk through the cottage.
(*) Descent by mountain bike of San Pedro (1700 m.a.s.l) - Cloud Forest towards Pilcopata- Selva Alta (700 m.a.s.l.).
(*) A 3-hour raft trip along the Kosñipata River where we will have the opportunity to take a bath and of course enjoy the spectacular view of the Koñeq Canyon. Continuing along the Alto Madre de Dios river to the Erika lodge.

Third day:

The great diversity of wildlife around the Lodge is due to the wide range of altitude of this beautiful site. Immediately after breakfast, we set off and our guide will explain us about insects, medicinal plants, trees, reptiles, mammals, etc. Before returning for lunch we can have the opportunity to swim in the clear water of the natural pools of a stream near the country house. Early in the afternoon we will have a short boat trip to visit a small lake near the Alto Madre de Dios River. Here we will have the opportunity to see the Hoatzin, a primitive bird, black alligators, many species of birds, insects, etc. This will be our last night in this wonderful Amazon jungle. Overnight in the country house.

Fourth day:

Early wake up aboard our ship. After five minutes of travel, we will arrive at a small "Collpa", which is a clay wall on the banks of the rivers, where many species of parrots feed on mineral supplements and salt to their diet of seeds and fruits. After this colorful and noisy show we will continue on the boat to the port of Atalaya and then the bus back to Cusco arriving at the end of the afternoon.
