Summary

The six day ausangate trekking circuit is a beautiful Cusco walk. The Vilcanota Mountain Range is an impressive mountain range, including the huge Ausangate snow-capped mountain (6,372m) and three more than 6000m. A walk around the base Nv. Ausangate Mountains has spectacular scenery and mountain life. As expected, the Ausangate circuit became a very popular ride, which can be completed in a week or less than six days.

Day 01: Cusco - Tinqui (3815 MT 12513 pés). For Upis (4400 MT 14432. Ft.).

Pick up from your hotel at 5:00 in the morning, we depart from Cusco to TINQUI on our private bus and travel around six hours to reach the small Andean city of Tinqui at the foot of the Vilcanota range. Driving through the countryside, we pass several traditional villages, including Urcos, Ccatcca, Ocongate, finally, arrive Tinqui where we can stop for breaks, lunch and meet our riders and horses. After lunch, we put all our things on the horses. Our tour starts at 9 am through the grassy bridge, Pampas meadows, under irregular stone flanks Ausangate (6350 m.), The highest snow peak in southern Peru. After traveling around five hours, we arrive at the hot springs of Upis. Here we spend the night in a beautiful camp in Upis.

Day 02: Ups - Arapa Pass (4750 MT .. 15, 580 PES) Pucacocha Lake Khatun (4500 MT 14,760 ft.).

The next day, we walked about two hours to get our first pass, Arapa Pass. To be on the pass we have to go to the valley along the right side before climbing to a rocky area. A country house and some feathers are the last solution we found before climbing the mountain. Throughout the trip, we will see the majestic Ausangate. Finally, we come to pass; Move on to enjoy a wonderful view not only of Ausangate himself. Follow the fence line and cross the mountains on foot to the left of the steep hill between him and the Ausangate Snowy. We continue to have the opportunity to see beautiful lakes, colorful lagoons to reach the largest lagoon of Yanacocha (Black Lake), where we have our lunch, after lunch for an hour at the campsite near the Jatun Pucacocha, we established a camp here.

Day 03: Jatun Pucacocha - Palomani Pass (5100 MT 16728 PES). For Uchuy Finaya (4550 MT 14.924 ft.).

In the morning we make a brief climb to the second pass of Apacheta (4,850 mt. 15,908 feet) and then down to Ausangatecocha Lagoon below, where we will have lunch. After lunch we started to walk to the highest point of Palomani step of walk, we went to PALOMANI step. We enjoy a fantastic view of the Ausangate and the Vilcanota range from this point. After approximately 2 hours of walking towards a valley, we arrive at our incredibly beautiful campsite in Uchuy Finaya.

Day 04: Uchuy Finaya - Qampa Pass (5,050 meters, 16,564 feet).

Today we start early to climb for two hours for the third step of the mountain, the Abra de Palomani (5200m / 17,056 feet). This is the highest part of the track, which then descends for another 2h by area flames, alpacas and vizcachas for Pampacancha (4050m / 13,284 feet). From here we follow an uphill path until it takes us to our camp in Q'ampa (4300m / 14,104 feet). Throughout this easy three-hour climb we can have the opportunity to see llamas, alpacas, and maybe even pumas. We will camp and dine at this place.

Day 05: Kyu'ampa paragraph Pchchanta

We climb two hours for Q'ampa mountain pass (5000m / 16,400 feet), where we can have the opportunity to see the Andean deer. From here, go down to the pond to finally reach Qomerqocha Pacchanta (4100m / 13,448 feet) after an approximate five-hour walk. Pacchanta is a small community with attractive hot springs where we can enjoy a relaxing bath. Camp and spent the night in this place.

Day 06: Pchchanta Tinki

Pacchanta leave and start walking the road back to Tinki, which will last approximately 2 hours. Once Tinki, aboard a private transport that will take us back to Cusco, where we estimate to arrive after nightfall.
